Bardo Retreat with H.E. Gyeltshen (Gyaltsen) Tulku Rinpoche and Drubpon Ngawang

Gyaltsen Tulku RInpocheWe are very honored and grateful to receive His Eminence Gyeltshen Tulku Rinpoche from Bhutan and Drubpon Ngawang, also buthanese and representative of His Holiness, the 12th Gyalwang Drukpa for Europe (Plouray, France) with two of their monks, in January 2010 for a retreat in Garafía, La Palma, Canary Islands.

Drubpon Ngawang TenzinTopic for the retreat is "Bardo", which means intermediate state. There are many different bardos, the most important ones in buddhist philosophy and practice are the ones between death and rebirth, which will be the main focus of our retreat.

Preparation for the bardo is closely related to practicing "Buddha Amitabha" and at the end of the retreat there will be a Tsok offering and an initiation for Buddha Amitabha.

The retreat will take place in a beautiful resort called "Finca Moro", prepared to host large groups in seperate houses on a large remote finca with tropical garden, pool, sauna and wonderful view over the Atlantic Ocean. Vegetarian meals will be provided.

Professional translation into Spanish and German will be provided.

Dates and Program:

  • January 22 : Arrival for the masters, monks and the foreign guests to the Finca Moro;
  • January 23 : Teaching on Bardo, practice of Drukpa Guru Yoga and Amitabha;
  • January 24 : Teaching on Bardo, practice of Amitabha, Shabten for the long live of His Holiness, Gyalwang Drukpa, Tsok offering and Initiation on Buddha Amitabha;
  • January 25 : Free time to visit some beautiful places of La Palma Island individually or in group (like Roque de los Muchachos in 2430 m above sealevel, Fuente de La Zarza (aboriginee culture exposition) or National Park Caldera de Taburiente); a group practice in the evening (10th day of Tibetan Calendar and Anniversary of Guru Pema Gyalpo, a manifestation of Guru Padmasambhava);
  • January 26 : Departure of the masters, monks and foreign guests.

Costs for the Retreat, Residence and Meals:

  • Participation for the whole retreat: 70,- €, but according to the Buddha´s words, money shall not be a hindrance to receive the Buddha´s teachings;
  • Participation for 1 day: 40,- €
  • Residence and meals depend on the chosen apartment and number of persons sharing a room, it is also your choice to have 2 or 3 meals (around 45-65 €/day).
  • Voluntary offering to the masters, transfer from the airport and cost for the excursions are not included and will be published later, depending on the number of participants.
